South Korea's largest influencer platform, 'Revu', revealed that the 'beauty' sector accounted for 30% of its product business and 32% of its local business among all marketing campaigns in 2023.

The development of online channels, reviews based on real experiences, and enhanced credibility through interaction have driven the influence of beauty influencers.

Revu Corporation (CEO Dae-gyu Jang), a global influencer platform company, announced the results of its analysis of the advertising industry for approximately 210,000 campaigns launched in South Korea last year.

An analysis of campaigns conducted on 'Revu', South Korea's largest influencer platform, in 2023 revealed that the beauty sector was the industry that most actively utilized influencer marketing. The beauty sector accounted for the highest proportion, 30%, of 'product business' campaigns, which aim to promote product sales through influencer marketing, followed by living (24%) and digital (11%).

The beauty sector also held a significant share of 32% in 'local business' campaigns, which involve influencer campaigns aimed at promoting local business districts, primarily for small and medium-sized enterprises. This was followed by restaurants (41%), beauty (32%), and culture (7%). The growth rate of beauty campaigns is also noteworthy. In 2023, the year-on-year growth rate of beauty campaigns was 55% for local businesses and 13% for product businesses, indicating strong growth.

Industry experts attribute this increase in the use of influencer marketing within the beauty industry to the development of online channels and the sophistication of digital information, leading to a culture where people utilize the insights of beauty-focused influencers to acquire product information.

According to a 2022 Influencer Marketing Market Analysis report published by DMC Media, a digital advertising and marketing knowledge portal, beauty/cosmetics is the product category that domestic digital marketers anticipate will yield the best results when implementing influencer marketing. Furthermore, among consumers who have purchased products through influencer accounts, beauty-related product purchasers were the most numerous.

The expansion of beauty influencers' influence is a global phenomenon. Gitnux, a global market research platform, noted that the beauty and fashion industries accounted for 25.8% of sponsored Instagram posts worldwide, making them the sectors that most actively utilize influencer marketing.

Revu Corporation stated that beauty influencers have consistently expanded their influence within the global beauty industry by leveraging their built-up trust based on real reviews derived from personal experiences and interactions with their followers. While influencers previously primarily provided information through simple reviews, their scope of activities in the market has recently broadened, including launching and selling their own private brand (PB) products. This suggests that the impact of beauty influencers within the influencer market is projected to continue expanding in the future.
