Those who believe that their personal consumption will 'decrease' assuming the same income a year later account for 60.4% of the total.

Middle-aged adults predict that the prices of 'coffee', 'wheat', and 'seolleongtang' will 'rise' in a year.

Impact Peoples, a senior social venture, announced on the 8th that it conducted a survey on the perceived economic conditions of active seniors in 2024.

Impact Peoples conducted a survey on the perceived economic conditions among 293 men and women aged 40 and older from April 23 to May 3, 2024, through Aful.

First, active seniors aged 40 and older were asked about their 'perceived economic situation compared to a year ago'. As a result, 39.3% of the total respondents answered that it had 'worsened'. This was followed by a neutral response of 'it's the same' (27%). Following this response, 24.9% answered that the current economic situation was 'significantly worse'. On the other hand, positive responses such as 'significantly better' or 'better' compared to a year ago accounted for only 8.9% of the total responses, a very small percentage.

The responses indicating that the current economy has 'worsened' compared to last year ('worsened' and 'significantly worsened' combined) accounted for 64.2% of the total. When examining this response by age group, the response that the 'current economy has worsened' compared to a year ago was the highest among those in their 40s at '69.2%'. It was '63.1%' for those in their 50s and '65.9%' for those in their 60s. In this case, the response was '54.5%' for those in their 70s, showing a lower percentage compared to other age groups.

Next, respondents were asked about their 'outlook for Korean semiconductor product exports in a year'. As a result, 43.4% of the respondents answered that it would 'increase', and 29% responded 'it will be the same'. At the same time, 27.7% believed that Korean semiconductor product exports would 'decrease' in a year.

Furthermore, middle-aged adults were asked about their prediction of how the prices of 'coffee beans', 'imported wheat', and 'seolleongtang at restaurants' would change in a year. As a result, a remarkably high percentage, 83.3%, of respondents predicted that the price of 'coffee beans' would 'increase'. For 'imported wheat' prices, 82.7% believed that they would increase, and similarly, 79.2% of middle-aged adults predicted that the price of 'seolleongtang' would rise.

What about automobiles, not semiconductors? Following up, the same respondents were asked about their 'outlook for Korean automobile product exports in a year'. As a result, 37.9% gave a neutral outlook, saying 'it will be the same', neither increasing nor decreasing. Following this, 37.2% believed that Korean automobile product exports would 'increase'. At the same time, 24.9% believed that automobile product exports would 'decrease'.

In addition, active seniors were asked, 'assuming they earn the same income a year later, how do they think their consumption scale will change due to the expected changes in the market environment for various prices?'. As a result, over half of the respondents, 50.5%, answered that their consumption scale would 'decrease', and 9.9% also answered that it would 'significantly decrease'. At the same time, 18.4% responded 'it will be the same', and 17.6% predicted that their future consumption scale would 'increase', showing similar proportions.
