Chakhan Travel (CEO Na Hyo-woo), the first company in Korea to start fair and sustainable tourism, and Jeju Island's IT company iTNew (CEO Ko Byeong-wook) have joined hands to launch ‘Duaker’, a platform for those who dream of various dual lives.
Duaker is defined as someone who pursues various lifestyles and realizes their new dreams by staying in domestic and international regions. It is a platform that provides various local lifestyles to those who want to challenge and enjoy side hustles or multiple jobs with hobbies or jobs different from their current jobs, using regional big data and AI technology.
To use Duaker, participants simply need to set their interests and then use regional content, accommodations, and more. While currently in a pilot program, Duaker plans to grow into a global platform through its AI technology, which matches regional programs based on Duaker's interests and big data.
In addition, Duaker program applicants can enjoy the program using the ‘Ttona (Another Me)’ ID card, unique to Duaker. ‘Ttona’ is issued based on the applicant's interests and desired lifestyle, and will be used in various ways in the future to connect individuals, local communities, and online and offline experiences.
Duaker, which connects individuals with diverse interests and values and proposes new lifestyles, aims for a hybrid life that transcends the boundaries of residency and migration, regular employment and freelancing. In the era of local extinction and population decline, it pursues social value by connecting various regional resources with domestic and international Duakers, leading to long-term stays and migration, and increasing the actual living population. In addition, Duaker is also planning a project to provide a healthy life and workplace for the 100-year-old era.
According to a recent government announcement, the average tenure of regular employees at companies with 5 or more employees is 6.5 years. The average tenure at the first job is 1 year and 6 months, and the average retirement age is 49. The period of residence has also shortened, with the average residence period in the metropolitan area being 6 years, and rented households staying for about 3 years. About 60% of rented households move within 2 years. This is why future lifestyles that pursue more diverse ways of living are attracting attention beyond the traditional concepts of regular employment and resident population.
As a pilot launch project, Duaker will begin three programs in May: ‘Living as a resident of Sehwa Village in Jeju Island’, ‘Growing Tangerines with a Farmer at Mureung Ogatjib’, and ‘Living as a Mountain Village Carpenter in Asan Songak Village’.
