Sustainable Management Foundation Successfully Completes ESG Management Practical Course for Welfare Organizations

The Sustainable Management Foundation (Chairman Hwang Sun-hee) announced that it successfully held the ‘Welfare Institution ESG Management Practical Course (W-ESG 2nd)’ online via Zoom for a total of two days (two 8-hour practical courses) on April 30th and May 2nd.


This practical course, consisting of four lectures, was broadly divided into two main categories: ‘Understanding ESG and Welfare’ and ‘Practical ESG Solutions for Welfare.’ The detailed lectures included: ‘Introducing ESG Management to Welfare Institutions’ by Park Ju-won, Head of the ESG Management Center at the Sustainable Management Foundation, on the first day; ‘Internalizing and Managing ESG Performance in Welfare Institutions’ by Kim Young-yeol, Senior Researcher at the ESG Management Center of the Sustainable Management Foundation; ‘Practical Application Cases of ESG in Social Welfare Fields’ by Kim Yong-gil, Director of Incheon Sehwa Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, and ‘Special Lecture: Human Rights Management in Welfare Institutions’ by Kim Yong-gu, Center Director of Disability Rights Monitoring at the Korea Disability Rights Forum on the second day.

Based on the pre-survey conducted for applicants of this practical course, participants showed the greatest interest in ‘Practical Application Cases of ESG in Social Welfare Fields,’ followed by ‘Introducing ESG Management to Welfare Institutions,’ ‘Internalizing and Managing ESG Performance in Welfare Institutions,’ and ‘Special Lecture: Human Rights Management in Welfare Institutions.’

The purpose of this course is to enable welfare institution practitioners to understand the concept of Welfare ESG and apply the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through collaboration and implementation with local residents and various partners in service areas, thereby taking the lead in realizing a sustainable society.

A total of 56 participants completed this paid practical course, and 40 of them took the ESG Specialist Level 2 qualification exam, with 37 passing.

The Sustainable Management Foundation plans to open the ‘Welfare Institution ESG Management Practical Course (W-ESG 3rd)’ in September and the ‘Welfare ESG Advanced Course (ESG Specialist Level 1 Course)’ in October, designed for practical and professional implementation of Welfare ESG management in the field.
