Providing insights to establish industry development strategies and set business directions in the SW field
The Software Policy & Research Institute (SPRi, Director: Kim Hyung-chul) held the ‘2024 SPRi Spring Conference’ at El Tower Grace Hall in Yangjae on April 26th (Friday).
Attended by over 300 software industry professionals, the conference was held to commemorate the 10th anniversary of SPRi, a software-focused think tank, and provide insights to support the establishment of industry development strategies and business directions for software companies.
The event commenced with opening remarks by SPRi Director Kim Hyung-chul, congratulatory addresses by Hwang Gyu-cheol, Director of the Ministry of Science and ICT, and the second director of SPRi, Kim Myung-jun, followed by four presentations and one talk show.
The first presentation, delivered by Professor Kim Myung-sik of Imperial College London, UK, focused on ‘Quantum Algorithms in Dreams – Simple Understanding and Applications’. He discussed the development of quantum software and how error correction algorithms can transform the current computing paradigm.
In the second presentation, Professor Lee Jin-hyung of Stanford University, USA, addressed ‘AI and the Future of Brain Health’. He introduced ‘Digital Twin,’ a software solution for treating incurable brain diseases, and explored the future of brain health, where novel treatments can be designed using this technology.
The third presentation, led by Lee Gun-bok, Lead at Microsoft Korea, explored ‘Changes in SW Development and Approach in the AI Era.’ This presentation delved into the shift in development methods in the generative AI era and discussed how to effectively utilize LLMs and AI in development.
In the fourth presentation, Ha Jeong-woo, Center Manager at Naver Cloud, discussed ‘Changes Brought About by Hyper-scale Generative AI and Our Response Strategies.’ He discussed recent technological trends in the field of hyper-scale generative AI and the changes it is inducing across various industries.
The final session, a talk show hosted by YouTuber Jocoding, addressed ‘Wisdom for the Next 10 Years: Seeking Insights and the Future.’ Joining Jocoding were Hong Jae-ui (journalist), Professor Lee Jin-hyung, Lead Lee Gun-bok, and Center Manager Ha Jeong-woo. They discussed the impact of software development on society, the economy, and individual lives, as well as how to adapt to the rapidly changing digital age and create new opportunities through innovation.
In his opening remarks, Director Kim Hyung-chul emphasized the need to collaborate and create a better software ecosystem to drive the advancement of digital society. He expressed his anticipation for the next 10 years of software development through collaboration and innovation.
In his congratulatory remarks, Director Hwang Gyu-cheol highlighted that AI and digital technologies are now integral to essential citizen services, improving quality of life and addressing societal issues. He also stated that the government would continue to support the growth and development of SPRi to address these evolving needs.
