Small Business Operating Environment Improvement Project ‘Our Neighborhood Hidden Hero Project’

Supporting low-income youth and single-parent female heads of households… Recruitment until May 31st

Together Making the World (Social Solidarity Bank) announced that it will recruit small business owners to participate in the ‘Our Neighborhood Hidden Hero Project’, a support project to improve the operating environment of small businesses, until May 31st.

The ‘Our Neighborhood Hidden Hero Project’ is a project that supports the improvement of the business environment for low-income youth and female heads of households who are small business owners. The Social Solidarity Bank has been running the project since 2017 in collaboration with JP Morgan.

Despite the surge in business closures due to high prices, high interest rates, and high exchange rates, participating businesses have shown results such as an average increase in sales and an increase in new hires.

Small business owners selected for the 2024 project will receive systematic support in stages, including business improvement consulting, business capacity building training, and business environment improvement subsidies.

The recruitment targets are △low-income youth (aged 20 to 39) △single-parent female heads of households, and the evaluation will be conducted in the order of document review, on-site evaluation, and interview.

Selected small business owners will receive 5 business improvement consultations per location, over 12 hours of business capacity building training, and up to 7 million won in business environment improvement subsidies.

Small business owners who wish to apply can download the application form from the notice section of the Social Solidarity Bank website (www.bss.or.kr) and submit it online by May 31st.

Ki-jun Kim, Head of Korea at JP Morgan, said, “Through this support project, we hope that the businesses of female heads of households and low-income youth will stabilize and that each business will have a positive impact on the growth of the local community where it is located.”

Yong-duk Kim, Chairman of the Social Solidarity Bank, said, “Through systematic and phased support, we will continue to support struggling young and female heads of household small business owners so that they can improve their business environment and continue their economic activities.”

The Social Solidarity Bank is a leading social finance institution in Korea that supports the self-reliance of financially excluded groups and the revitalization of the social economy through alternative finance.

JP Morgan supports various social contribution activities in cooperation with domestic non-profit organizations to foster small businesses and create new opportunities for youth, women, and underserved communities.
