Integrating Predictive Maintenance (PPdM) and Fault Detection and Classification (FDC) functionalities with AI for unified management
Manufacturing companies that have recently adopted the service have experienced a more than 50% reduction in the time required to respond to unexpected equipment stoppages, as well as in the time dedicated to regular equipment inspections and maintenance.
Providing customized digital factory consulting services in partnership with Accenture Partners to optimize AI-driven predictive maintenance adoption.
SK C&C (CEO: Yoon Phong-young) announced on the 22nd that it will offer a "Comprehensive AI Predictive Maintenance Service Customized for Manufacturing Plants" based on its manufacturing-specialized AI integrated digital factory platform, ‘iFacts’.
The ‘iFacts AI Predictive Maintenance Service’ is an AI hyperautomation service that synthesizes the predictive maintenance systems and production process operation experience and know-how built over the past several years based on machine and equipment data from various manufacturing industries, including steel, chemicals, energy, semiconductors, batteries, and materials, both domestically and internationally.
AI, trained on the operating conditions of machines and equipment in each production process, identifies and alerts users about the causes of machine failures and equipment malfunctions that can significantly impact product production and quality, thereby supporting the stable operation of machines and equipment.
To achieve this, SK C&C has integrated digital automation technology and AI into the iFacts platform, incorporating both the predictive maintenance service (PPdM, Proactive Predictive Maintenance) and the fault detection service (FDC, Fault Detection And Classification) that are currently being applied.
‘PPdM’ detects vibrations generated by equipment in manufacturing plants using sensors, transmits the data to the cloud via an LTE wireless network, and the AI analyzes signs of anomalies in each component in real-time.
Developed for process systems and machinery, ‘FDC’ proactively detects and classifies various errors and data that could lead to malfunctions in various systems and machines, facilitating efficient maintenance. It comes standard with DAQ (Data Acquisition), a data collection technology, and Smart Edge technology, an on-site AI data analysis technology. The AI continuously monitors the entire process system and preemptively detects equipment malfunctions.
Manufacturing plants have faced challenges in implementing comprehensive predictive maintenance across the entire production process due to the need to run predictive maintenance and fault detection services separately.
In contrast, iFacts AI Predictive Maintenance significantly enhances the ease of use of predictive maintenance by comprehensively analyzing data from various equipment and machines within the production process system in operation at the manufacturing plant using AI.
In fact, domestic steel, chemical, energy, semiconductor, battery, and materials companies that have recently adopted iFacts AI Predictive Maintenance have seen a reduction of more than half in the time it takes to respond to unexpected equipment stoppages and the time spent on regular equipment and machine inspections and maintenance compared to before.
Previously, it was necessary to collect and analyze data presented for each equipment and machine and the operating equipment and machine data over a certain period of time. Additionally, a separate comparison of data changes between machines and equipment was also required.
This process took at least several days to several weeks, making it difficult to determine the optimal maintenance time.
SK C&C, along with Accenture Partners, its subsidiary specializing in comprehensive digital consulting, also provides customized digital factory consulting services. This enables companies to determine the optimal AI predictive maintenance service adoption strategy across the entire production process and receive support for implementing hyperautomation across the entire factory.
Kim Hyo-wook, Head of Manufacturing Business 2 Group at SK C&C, stated, "The iFacts Predictive Maintenance service has completed sufficient training on data related to various equipment and machines operated by numerous manufacturing companies." He added, "We will provide a completely new, customized, comprehensive AI predictive maintenance hyperautomation experience across all manufacturing industries, including the steel, chemical, energy, semiconductor, battery, and materials sectors in Korea."
