The Seoul Metropolitan Government Out-of-School Youth Support Center (hereinafter referred to as the Center) announced that its startup project team, ‘Heart Mailman,’ has launched ‘Malsomsi,’ a family empathy and communication AI learning app for 7 million teenagers and their families.
The Heart Mailman team recognized the severity of the social issue of insufficient family communication, where families spend less than 13 minutes a day communicating, and developed this AI learning app to address this issue. It aims to promote self-understanding, understanding of family members, and personalized empathy expression learning.
The Heart Mailman team consists of four out-of-school youth: △Park Jung-bin (representative) △Moon Gi-bae (developer) △Han Seo-yeon (marketer) △Hong Se-yeon (data analyst).
The ‘Malsomsi’ app launched by Heart Mailman boasts several features, including: △Communication style tests to understand oneself and family members, △Personalized communication curriculum for tailored empathy expression learning, △AI-based real-time communication for empathy dialogue practice and reflection, and △Mini-games, such as family balance games.
Heart Mailman representative Park Jung-bin expressed, “I am proud to unveil the culmination of two years of effort. Our goal is to foster deeper conversations within families through the ‘Malsomsi’ app, not only facilitating personalized empathy expression learning but also strengthening family bonds.”
Center Director Seo Hyun-chul stated, “We hope that the ‘Malsomsi’ AI learning app will serve as an opportunity for families to strengthen their bonds through understanding and recognizing each other's communication styles. We will continue to support startup projects aimed at fostering the independence and capabilities of out-of-school youth.” The ‘Malsomsi’ app by the Heart Mailman team is available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
The Center operates various support programs for out-of-school youth aged 9 to 24, including customized legal education and counseling support, in addition to the startup project, to enhance their independence. Those interested in participating can inquire through the Center’s website or by phone.
