On May 22nd, 1:1 buyer matching was conducted in Vietnam for promising domestic SMEs and venture companies.
Strengthening POSCO Group's SME and venture company value-up ecosystem
POSCO International (CEO: Kye-in Lee) jointly hosted the 'Tipstown World Show' export consultation in Hanoi, Vietnam on May 22nd, with POSTECH Technology Holdings.
This event is the first project undertaken by the two companies to build a value-up ecosystem for promising domestic SMEs and venture companies.
In preparation for the 'Tipstown World Show', POSCO International comprehensively considered market demand, product competitiveness, and the possibility of buyer matching, and selected 10 promising SMEs and venture companies, including Eyu C&C, a producer of environmentally friendly energy and energy-saving thermal barrier coatings, and Green Whale Global, a manufacturer of biodegradable eco-friendly plastics.
The selected SMEs and venture companies will receive a variety of support, from new business development to fostering. To this end, POSTECH Technology Holdings has promised to provide R&D support necessary for business development and foster startups through the operation of Change Up Ground, POSCO Group's venture fostering facility. POSCO International plans to share operational know-how necessary for overseas business, covering all areas from global promotions and buyer verification to contracts, logistics, and payment collection, by utilizing its overseas branches and corporations, to help SMEs and venture companies explore overseas markets.
The 10 SMEs and venture companies participating in this event conducted 1:1 export consultations with approximately 50 potential buyers in Vietnam, including AN PHÁT HOLDINGS, a Vietnamese plastic manufacturing company, and Techcons, Sơn Hải Phòng, a manual fire protection construction equipment company, to verify the feasibility of local business and explore opportunities for global expansion.
Jang-sik Choi, CEO of Eyu C&C, who participated in the export consultation, said, “After starting our first export to Indonesia last year, we were looking for ways to expand our overseas business. Through POSCO International's overseas network, we were able to receive introductions to high-quality buyers, which was a great help. We plan to discuss new business opportunities with the buyers we connected with through this export consultation.”
Seung-hyeong Heo, Head of the Corporate Citizenship Office, who prepared for this export consultation, said, “Based on the company's global network, exploring overseas markets with competitive SMEs and venture companies and promoting Korea's excellent technological prowess is meaningful in terms of securing the company's long-term competitiveness. In the future, we will continue to support the overseas expansion of SMEs and venture companies that are experiencing difficulties with exports and contribute to strengthening national competitiveness through management for continuous transactions.”
Meanwhile, POSCO International has been continuously conducting collaborative growth activities for SMEs and venture companies, such as local buyer matching export consultations and global expansion capacity-building consultations, based on its global network spanning 45 countries and over 80 locations. In particular, the company has signed business agreements with 8 external organizations, including the Small and Medium Business Administration, the Korea International Trade Association, and Incheon Startup Park, and is helping over 80 domestic SMEs and venture companies expand into overseas markets.
