The Korea Women's Development Institute (President Jang Pil-hwa) held the opening ceremony of ‘My Future, My Business IV’, a program supporting women's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), sponsored by JP Morgan, on May 22nd.

Key figures from the organizations attended the opening ceremony, including JP Morgan's Managing Director Park Ra-hee, Korea Women's Development Institute President Jang Pil-hwa and Secretary-General No Ji-eun, and Ewha Womans University Leadership Development Institute Director Kim Yu-ri, who offered congratulatory remarks. Shin Seon-hwa, CEO of the Arokdalrok Cooperative, delivered a speech on behalf of the trainees.

Sponsored by JP Morgan and hosted by the Korea Women's Development Institute, ‘My Future, My Business IV’ is a program that provides digital literacy training to 40 women entrepreneurs nationwide and supports business improvements for 20 companies through one-on-one consulting to diagnose management issues.

From May to July, training will be provided to help women entrepreneurs who face the double burden of caregiving and business operations, covering the fundamentals of digital literacy to advanced marketing. Following this, expert consultations will be provided, along with support for business improvement and growth costs, to assist women entrepreneurs in overcoming management challenges and sustaining their businesses.

Previously, from 2015 to 2021, the Korea Women's Development Institute collaborated with JP Morgan to support businesses run by women entrepreneurs in need through ‘My Future, My Business’ programs I-III. Through these programs, they gathered information about the challenges faced by diverse groups of women entrepreneurs, including single mothers, female heads of households, and those digitally disadvantaged, and designed this program to establish a comprehensive support system for them.

Korea Women's Development Institute President Jang Pil-hwa stated, “Following the COVID-19 pandemic, many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have encountered difficulties, and the service industry, where women are heavily employed, has been particularly impacted. We hope this will be a chance for women to rediscover themselves as professionals while enhancing their digital skills. We hope it serves as a chance for women entrepreneurs to practice self-care. We hope that through the connections made here, they will support and collaborate with each other and become a source of strength for one another in running their businesses for a long time to come.”

Kim Ki-jun, Country Head of JP Morgan Korea, remarked, “JP Morgan is pleased to be able to contribute to strengthening the digital capabilities of women entrepreneurs. We hope the fourth My Future, My Business program will provide them with the essential digital skills to adapt to the changing business environment and enhance the sustainability of their businesses.”

The Korea Women's Development Institute was established in 1999 with the goal of creating a society where all women in Korea can live equally and harmoniously. It supports public interest activities for a gender-equal society and works with women who are in socioeconomically disadvantaged positions to achieve a life based on caregiving communities and sharing culture.

JP Morgan supports various corporate social responsibility activities in collaboration with domestic non-profit organizations to foster small businesses and create new opportunities for young people, women, and underprivileged communities.
