Kia, along with the social welfare corporation Yeolmae Nanum Foundation and car-sharing company Green Car, announced on the 29th that it will be accepting applications for the ‘Good Mobility Campaign - Startup Challenge’ to nurture future generations who will lead the environmental and mobility sectors.
The ‘Startup Challenge’ is one of Kia's representative social contribution activities, the ‘Good Mobility Campaign’, and is a program that provides mentoring and opportunity for idea development to young entrepreneurs with innovative ideas related to the environment and mobility sectors.
Kia plans to provide various startup support measures to 15 finalists selected through application document and presentation evaluations, including: △KRW 3 million in MVP (Minimum Viable Product) test support funds for the commercialization of ideas, △business model workshops, and △3 months of 1:1 expert mentoring. In addition, Green Car will provide car-sharing coupons worth a total of KRW 10 million.
※ Minimum Viable Product: A product with the minimum necessary features implemented to receive customer feedback before the release of the full product.
The final round is scheduled to take place in October of this year, and after the final presentation evaluation, three outstanding teams will be selected and awarded additional support funds: KRW 7 million for the grand prize, KRW 5 million for the excellence award, and KRW 3 million for the merit award.
The application period for the ‘Startup Challenge’ is from April 29 (Mon) to May 31 (Fri), and the target applicants are prospective entrepreneurs or early-stage startups (regardless of individual or corporation) within 3 years of establishment with ideas for solving problems in the environmental (circular economy, energy, climate technology, etc.) and mobility (transportation accessibility for the disabled, road and traffic safety, autonomous driving and smart mobility, etc.) sectors.

Kia stated that it plans to support and nurture more young entrepreneurs than before by expanding the recruitment scope from startups in the environmental sector to include the mobility sector as well. Kia also emphasized that it will continue to strive to introduce sustainable social contribution programs for future generations and the environment.
Meanwhile, Kia is supporting the realization of ideas for social change through the ‘Good Mobility Campaign’, and in addition to the ‘Startup Challenge’, it is also running the ‘Welcome Wheel’ program to enhance transportation accessibility for the disabled.
