This program aims to establish 'sustainable new value' by addressing urban issues prevalent worldwide. Key urban issues to be addressed include demographic shifts, environmental and energy challenges, aging infrastructure, and cultural preservation through advanced technologies and digital expertise.

Key programs include: △a session featuring Yuriko Koike, Governor of Tokyo, and Adi Ignatius, Editor-in-Chief of Harvard Business Review, discussing 'Cities of the Future and Innovation'; △a pitch contest with 507 companies from 43 countries; △a startup exhibition hall; △an investor pavilion; △a startup training zone; and △a product and solution self-promotion stage. Notably, the speaking sessions and pitch (promotion) contest will feature startups, investors, major companies, and enthusiastic students from across the globe. Other prominent panelists and speakers participating in the program include Jen Cargter, Google's Global Technology Lead, and John Roos, Founding Partner of Geodesic Capital.

The Executive Committee of the '2024 SusHi Tech Tokyo Global Startup Program' expressed their honor in hosting this prestigious event, stating that this year's 'SusHi Tech Tokyo Global Startup Program' is Asia's largest innovation conference. They emphasized their vision of providing a platform for innovation to solve global urban challenges and highlighted the hope that every May, startups, investors, influential figures from academia and industry, and students from around the world will gather in Tokyo to create a hopeful future together.

'SusHi Tech Tokyo' is an abbreviation for 'Sustainable High City Tokyo', symbolizing Tokyo's standing in the global technology market. This event embodies the ambition to provide future competitiveness not only to Japan but also to the world, and to open a platform for innovation aimed at resolving urban issues.

The event will be held at the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition hall from May 15th to 16th. Further details, including the speaking sessions, panels, and participating companies, can be found on the official website.

Introduction to the Tokyo Global Startup Program

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government's 'Global Innovation with STARTUP' program has been ongoing since November 2022. Under the '10x10x10 Innovation Vision' strategy, this program aims to increase the number of unicorn companies and startups in Tokyo, as well as public and private startups, tenfold over the next five years. Following the success of 'City-Tech.Tokyo' held at the Tokyo International Forum in February 2023, which attracted 26,000 visitors over two days, the '2024 SusHi Tech Tokyo' will further enhance the program by expanding the content with discussions and competitions.
